There are so many paintings that I had only researched on the internet, but now I have seen them in person, and I feel very different. I am particularly struck by the mysterious atmosphere and the gentle demeanour of the figures, as well as the detail of the plants, the figures, the rocks and the water.
Seeing Monet’s water lilies in person was also very striking, and my final project for Unit 1 was inspired by Monet’s water lilies. The painting’s use of colour is very gentle
I was impressed by the way light and shade were portrayed in many of the paintings, and many of the portraits were very lifelike and the colour palette was very bright.
